DESCRIPTION:Studio BFPL returns in partnership with New York Chinese Cultural Center. Experience intimate\, one-of-a-kind\, live performances that are socially distant\, within the indoor spaces of Brookfield Place. Up to six people who have traveled together can expect to be entertained for up to 15 minutes. \nThank you for celebrating the Lunar New Year with Studio BFPL! We loved having you. Stay tuned for upcoming events & programs this summer by signing up for our email list.  \nDATES & TIMES: \nFridays\, 5:00 – 7:00PM\nFebruary 19 and 26\, March 5 and 12\nFriday sessions will feature dance performances \nSundays\, 1:00 – 4:00PM\nFebruary 21 and 28\, March 7 and 14\nSunday sessions will feature musical performances \nStudio BFPL aims to provide a safe and fun escape for those looking to be entertained at Brookfield Place and for artists who aspire to collaborate\, experiment\, and grow creatively in their practice through participation in this program. \nAll performers will either be wearing face coverings\, or there will be a plexiglass barrier between them and the audience. \nAbout the Artists: \nDance China NY\, the resident touring company at the New York Chinese Cultural Center\, was founded in 1973 in New York City’s Chinatown. Dancers include internationally renowned artists from performance stages and academies throughout mainland China\, Taiwan and the U.S. Performing a vast and dynamic range of Chinese dance and Beijing opera styles\, Dance China NY\, transports audiences to a world of colorful myths\, historical drama\, and timeless beauty. Dance China NY’s repertoire of traditional and contemporary folk and classical dances weaves a vibrant vision of China’s ancient indigenous folk cultures across varied terrains of time and region – legend and reality. Noted for pieces with powerful grace and contained elegance\, Dance China NY performs regularly throughout the United States for audiences of all ages. Dance China NY has toured to hundreds of cities across 23 states\, bringing the movements and rhythms of China to communities large and small. \nSun Wei (musician) is the principal performer of Guzheng of the Chinese National Orchestra in New York. Since her arrival in New York in 2016\, she has been invited to perform at the Lincoln Center\, United Nations\, Pace University\, Columbia University\, Merkin Concert Hall\, Flushing Townhall\, Queens College Art Center\, among others. Wei was born into a family of artists. She is a national certified senior teacher of Guzheng\, a member of the Chinese National Instrumental Association and a member of the International Guzheng Association. She learned from the famous Guzheng artist Sha Yuan. Wei’s employment of the seven-tone Guzheng offers ground-breaking possibilities to play in western sound worlds\, breaking the usual pentatonic limitations of traditional Chinese instruments. \nYang Wang (musician)\, an erhu prodigy\, started his music journey at age seven. Over his years of formal music education\, Yang attended Xi’an Conservatory of Music for college and studied professional erhu performance from instructor Wei Jin\, a prestigious erhu artist in China. In 2013\, Yang successfully held a recital where he showcased traditional and contemporary numbers with outstanding erhu techniques. Yang has travelled and performed at Lincoln Center\, New York Carnegie Hall\, and the Chinese National Center for Performing Arts.
