SUMMARY:Winter Installation by Reyna Noriega
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, Brookfield Place features a winter themed installation on its glass exterior. This year\, artist Reyna Noriega has designed a vibrant and unique vinyl on display on Brookfield Place’s façade on Vesey Street\, the Waterfront Plaza and West Street. There is also a complimentary design featured in the Winter Garden. \nAbout Reyna Noriega \nReyna Noriega is a Miami-based Afro-Latina visual artist\, author\, and educator who works across a variety of mediums\, from graphic design\, to painting\, digital illustration\, and photography. Through simplified shapes and forms in bold and vibrant shades\, she portrays figures of people of color\, architectural spaces\, and landscapes. She helps women to create inclusive\, forward-thinking businesses and brands and combines her visual art with writing. In 2019\, she notably published a collection of poems entitled ​In Bloom​. \nHer multidisciplinary practice is devoted to highlighting and uplifting women and to helping them heal and find happiness. With layers of paint and pixels\, Noriega offers a window into her life and those of all women\, as she tells stories inspired by her culture and experiences\, in which women can recognize themselves\, feel represented\, and empowered. \nNoriega received her BA in Psychology from Florida International University\, with minors in Art and English. Over the course of the next four years\, she taught graphic design and visual arts in a public high school and developed her passion and ability to teach\, motivate\, and inspire. She further refined her skill set as a creative director\, public and motivational speaker\, before becoming a full-time illustrator in 2018. \nBrookfield Place is open to help you make the most of this special time of year. Between scheduled light shows at the top of every hour\, two touchless wishing stations let you activate the lights with a holiday wish. For each wish\, Brookfield Place will donate $1 (up to $25\,000) to ROAR (Relief Opportunities for All Restaurants). \nDreidel Dash: December 10 – December 18\nAn augmented reality experience\, only for Chanukah. Find the snowflakes throughout Brookfield Place to play a game of dreidel. Lucky winners will receive a special prize.\n\nReindeer Roundup: December 19 – 24\nAn augmented reality experience to help Santa find his reindeer—they’ve all run away. Explore Brookfield Place and track them down. Find all nine and Santa will have a present waiting for you. \nVirtual Performances of New York Theatre Ballet: The Nutcracker\nWatch as dancers perform vignettes throughout Brookfield Place.
